Leadership & Management for Dementia Care Services

Designed with the overall aim of preparing staff to lead and manage dementia care services successfully

As leaders in our field of care, we have been selected to offer training courses in collaboration with the Social Services Institute and City of Glasgow College under the TNM2.0 initiative.

Skillsfuture Singapore will subsidise up to 70% of course fees allowing us to extend our training opportunities further into our community.

Course Overview

The programme is designed with the overall aim of preparing staff to lead and manage dementia care services successfully. Learners will review their personal skills and traits as leaders. They will be introduced to different leadership theories, focusing in more depth on outcome-based leadership and organizational learning. The programme also covers managing the quality of Dementia Care services, motivation of employees and conflict Management.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the importance of interpersonal skills and teamwork in Dementia Care Services.
  2. Apply leadership theories and frameworks
  3. Use outcome-based leadership tools to evaluate potential improvements to Dementia Care Services.
  4. Use organisational learning tools to analyse departmental and organizational problems.
  5. Use quality improvement tools to use to monitor and evaluate improvements in departmental or organizational processes.
  6. Apply conflict resolution strategies in Dementia Care Services

Who Should Attend This Training?

Health and Social Care Professionals:

Such as, Social Workers, Social Work Managers, Volunteer Managers, Programme Managers, Allied Health Professionals, Nurse Managers, Nurse Clinicians, Nurses, Senior care staff, other staff working in Community care and Social Service professions or individuals who plan to enter into these sectors.

Entry Requirements

Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, allied health, business, or other related fields.
Preferably at least 2 years’ experience in the community care sector
A pass in N/O/A level English (or equivalent)

OR

Be able to listen, speak, read, and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4 and be able to use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 4.
Learners who do not meet the entry requirements may still apply and will be considered on a case-to-case basis.

Mode of Delivery

This training will be conducted via Asynchronous e-Learning and face-to-face training in the classroom.

  • e-Learning can be undertaken at the learner’s own pace, but must be completed before the start of classroom training. The e-learning will take approximately 8 hours.
  • The duration of the classroom training will be 16 hours.
  • Assessment will be in the form of an oral presentation which will be conducted one week after the last practicum training session.

Certification

Learners who pass the assessment will be awarded with an electronic Certificate of Achievement awarded by Social Service Institute in collaboration with The Salvation Army Peacehaven Jade Circle Acaredemy and City of Glasgow College, UK.
